Supporting services for longer terms sickness and absence. People who have been absent for a significant period of time will often become emotionally isolated and ‘disconnect’ from their employer and job. This can create many problems in relation to their ability to successfully return to work with both the Employer and Employee feeling the pressure to make this happen.
The person off sick will often feel anxious, losing self confidence in their ability to return and be productive or simply ‘fit back in’ with colleagues and procedures. If the absence is psychologically related, they may not have received adequate support via the normal Primary Care route. This means their condition may have worsened through no fault of their own but will impact heavily on their Employer and themselves.
