Bio:
I left Liverpool when I was 18 and travelled extensively with the Merchant Navy and developed my career in project management bringing ships from shipyard status into passenger service, during this time I qualified in Hotel Management and went on to secure a degree in Marine Operations. I was responsible for teams from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds and realised the need for clear communication and well being support.
I’ve seen people struggle thus effecting work performance and impacting negatively on personal relationships. This personal experience heightened my interest in training and qualifying as a counsellor.
I continue to further develop my academic and professional knowledge, taking relevant specialist courses to aid me in my practice and keeping up to date with safeguarding training.
For some people, therapy is just about offloading or simply talking to someone independent, who is highly skilled in listening. I take this further by helping you to engage you in a ‘therapeutic process’. We will really start to delve into what’s going on for you; I take a genuine interest in you, your life, and your story.
Initially, I spent 4 years studying The Person-Centred model and completed training that specialised in this approach.
This robust, and thorough training gives me a well-grounded model to work from, whilst remaining flexible to suit your needs. I have spent the following years studying looking into other specialist areas as part of my CPD (continued personal development).
