We work with schools in relation to awareness and action around Bullying and also protection of vulnerable groups such as LGBT.
Despite ongoing campaigning in the media, bullying continues to be a major issue in relation to student health and wellbeing. Working Minds is committed to working with schools in a pro-active way to resource all vulnerable students to ensure that they can better deal with bullying as well as working with the perpetrators of bullying to create greater self awareness and understanding and change behaviours as a result.
Working Minds is currently working on a pilot project to support LGBT students and their friends in relation to their health and wellbeing in and out of school. Anxiety and confusion are common for students coming to terms with their sexuality and as a result they can become isolated and more vulnerable to bullying and low self esteem. Their academic performance can also be severely affected so this is of particular importance, not just to the students themselves, but teachers, parents and carers. Watch our Facebook/Twitter and News pages for updates on progress in this area.
